URL parameters, variables, and Grafana compatibility updates in Business News 2.4.0

We are happy to announce the release of the Business News Data Source 2.4.0. This release includes the following updates:

  • Added URL parameters with dashboard variables support.
  • Updated to the latest Grafana 9.4.7 toolkit and workflows.

URL parameters​

URL parameters allow reusing the data source for news feeds with the same URL.

For example, a data source can be set to YouTube. You can display specific or multiple news feeds using a dashboard variable.

Dashboard variables can be used in URL parameters.

Getting Started​

The Business News data source can be installed from the Grafana Catalog or utilizing the Grafana command line tool.

Install Business Suite plugins in Cloud, OSS, Enterprise. Getting started with the Business Suite.

For the latter, please use the following command.

grafana cli plugins install volkovlabs-rss-datasource

Tutorial​

This is a very detailed tutorial in which Daria explains what RSS and Atom format is and how to find appropriate links for further usage. She then demonstrates how to install and configure the Business News data source on your Grafana dashboard. She touches upon Grafana's transformations to show little data transformation tricks.

The tutorial was created two years ago, and since then, we significantly improved the Business News data source. The new video is on our road map.
